Cemetery Mass in Ballyfin Cemetery.
Cemetery Mass with Blessing of the Graves was celebrated in Ballyfin Cemetery on Wed. 11th August. Because of the restrictions due to Covid 19 we were not allowed to have a congregation and it had to be celebrated “Behind Closed Doors”
However, Tommy Ferns made a recording of this Ceremony and is now available to view on the Parish Webcam.

Cemetery Mass in Mountrath Cemetery.

Cemetery Mass with Blessing of the Graves was celebrated in Mountrath Cemetery on Thurs. 29th July. Because of the restrictions due to Covid 19 we were not allowed to have a congregation and it had to be celebrated “Behind Closed Doors”

Bridget Hooban (Nee Tobin) St. Patrick’s Park, Castletown R.I.P.
We pray for Bridget who died peacefully at Midlands Regional Hosp., Portlaoise on Mon. 6th Sept. Bridget’s Funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Edmund’s Church, Castletown on Wed. 8th Sept. followed by burial in Churchtown Cemetery. We extend sympathy to her family Dan, Michael, Alice, Eithne, Seamus, Gerard and Annette, sons in law, daughters in law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, – the Tobin family, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Gerard Dollard, Pike of Rushall, R.I.P.
We pray for Gerard who died peacefully at his home on Wed. 6th Sept. Gerald’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Edmund’s Church, Castletown on Sun. 12th Sept. at 2.00 pm followed by burial in Churchtown Cemetery. We extend sympathy to his parents, Kevin and Madeline, twin brother Francis. sister-in-law Ricka, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandmother Lily Cummins, minder Margaret, extended family, relatives and friends.

May Bridget and Gerard rest in the peace of Christ.

Celebration of Confirmation in Ballyfin Parish

We celebrated our 1st Ceremony of Confirmation on (today) Sat. 11th Sept. in Ballyfin Church – We have 2 further ceremonies arranged – one for Wed. 15th Sept. 7.30 pm
and one for Sat. next 18th Sept. 11.30 am
We congragulate all our children who were Confirmed in their Faith today.
And may God who has begun the good work in them, bring it to fulfilment.

Celebration of 1st Holy Communion in Mountrath Ballyfin Parish
Now that restrictions on the numbers who can attend Church for public worship has been eased we plan to go ahead with the celebration of 1st Holy Communion and we now have the following arrangements in place

Ceremony of 1st Holy Communion in St. Fintan’s Church, Mountrath for children in Scoil Bhride, St. Fintan’s Boy’s School and Clonanagh NS is arranged for Sun. 19th September – Time 2.00 pm

Ceremony of 1st Holy Communion in St. Fintan’s Church, Ballyfin for children in Barnashrone and Ballyfin Schools. Sunday 26th September – Time 2.00 pm

Ceremony of 1st Holy Communion in Church of the Sacred Heart, The Hollow for children in Gael Scoil, Thromaire. Sunday 3rd October – Time 9.00 am

If the above dates do not suit you or if you are more comfortable or or if you would just prefer if your child received their 1st Holy Communion on a different date from the dates listed above, you are most welcome to attend any of our Masses in either Parish. – Just let us know before hand.
Sacrament of 1st Penance (Reconcilliation)
Fr. P.J. will be celebrating the Sacrament of Reconcilliation (1st Penance) with the
1st Holy Communion Class, in the schools –(in the classroom) over the coming days.
