Ballyfin Community Alert
Community Alert invited Councillor W.Aird, Councillor P. Bracken, Councillor J. Kelly and
Councillor S. MC Donald to a meeting to discuss issues of concern in Ballyfin area. The
councillors informed the well-attended meeting of the following:
Following roads to be salted/gritted over winter period
Mountrath to Derrycloney Bridge
Ballyfin Demesne to Sands
Deadmans to Portlaoise
Resurfacing of road from Sands to Finns Bridge
Road Markings at dangerous crossings in area
Signage re deer crossing along road around Ballyfin Demesne
New railings & gates gone to tender. Money for this project has been set aside
Councillors Bracken, Kelly & McDonalds discretionary fund to go towards erection of 3 lights
around graveyard
New graves to be marked out
Safety concerns around Ballyfin National School
Councillors to invite Edmond Kenny, Executive engineer roads section to visit the area
around the school & GAA grounds to assess dangers &provide solutions.
