New Altar in Mountrath Cemetery
New Altar in Mountrath Cemetery
During the Cemetery Mass on Friday evening we blessed and dedicated a beautiful new altar,
designed and made by Vincent Fitzpatrick,
The Logo on the Altar is St. Brigid’s Cross, inspired by the Bridgine Sisters who have been an
integral part of Mountrath life since 1809.
The new altar is sited at the intersection of the “old” and “new” parts of the Cemetery and is faced towards the Spire of St. Fintan’s Parish
Church on Patrick St.,
We extend thanks to all involved in the construction of the altar. Eddie Phelan (main contractor).
Bennett Concrete, Coolrain – Terry
Swayne, Portlaoise Stone, – Colm Coughlan, Mark Sheeran, Robbie and Josh Holmes, Mick Grehan
and his team, Paul Kirwan and all
who donated flowers and other items for the altar and Cemetery. (Apologies for any omissions)
On a personal note, I extend sincere thanks to Mountrath Cemetery Committee who do such
excellent work in the Cemetery. It is due
to their commitment and endeavour that we were able to bless and dedicate this beautiful altar in
the Cemetery during Friday evening’s Mass.
Thanks too, to all who contribute so generously to the upkeep and maintenance of the Cemetery.
Also, during Mass I read a list of names of those of our own who died since this time last year.
If you feel that I omitted any name please let me know and I will amend the list.
