World Meeting of Families ‘18
Ireland has been chosen by Pope Francis to host the next World Meeting of Families in August 2018. Started by St. John Paul 11 and held every three years, this major world event celebrates family as the cornerstone of our lives, and the fundamental building block of society and the Church.
Families and others from all over the world will gather in Dublin from 21-26 August 2018 to celebrate their lives together, to share their experiences from different parts of the world, to reflect on the different challenges they face and to grow together in faith.
The theme chosen by Pope Francis for WMOF 2018 is The Gospel of the Family: Joy for the world. As we make the journey towards August 2018 parishes within our diocese are asked to use this time to offer supports and resources to families locally to celebrate Being Family and providing practical material for Talking About Family.
A small group in our parish has already met to look at the World Meeting of Families 2018 and our preparation for it. We are looking for at least 5 volunteers who would like to be part of this preparation programme and there will be a training day for it on the 16th September. Why not volunteer and make this a memorable year for all.
